First time exhibitor, Gillian Scott, Gateside, Linlithgow, came home in style from last weekend’s West Fife Show, after winning the British Blue breed championship, supreme beef and overall champion of champions.
Gillian (26), who is better known for bringing out top commercial cattle for her father Gavin, took the event by storm with her first British Blue female, Drumlone Lindsey. This previously unshown 17-month-old is a daughter of Twyning Ash Vaughan, and was bought at the breed sale at Carlisle, in January, from breeder Kenny Veitch, Northern Ireland.
For the supreme overall which is based on a points system by the various inter-breed judges, she beat off strong competition from the top winners in the beef, sheep, dairy, goat and Clydesdale sections.
This included the supreme sheep, a home-bred Texel shearling ram from Robin and Nancy Orr and daughter Caroline, Halbeath, Dunfermline, which was presented the reserve overall. Their big tup on his show debut, is by Cambwell Trademark and out of a home-bred ewe.
