Continentals reigned at Angus Show, winning the inter-breed groups of three, pairs and individual in the cattle lines, and the supreme sheep honours.

Despite the damp weather, a cracking line up of livestock was out in force for the top honours which saw Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart, Huntly, win both the inter-breed group of three and the supreme pairs in the beef cattle lines.

Their top trio comprised black British Blue and Limousin cross yearlings bought at Ruthven, Brecon and Dingwall, with the lead pair made up of the Dingwall purchased stot and the Brecon heifer, brought out with asisstance of Debbie Watt and Deborah Atkinson.

Taking the supreme individual was a massive Limousin bull from Andrew Gammie, Laurencekirk. This was the privately purchased, Dinmore Jack The Lad, a rising four-year-old by Requin, on his first outing, which stood ahead of the Charolais leader for the individual overall, from Jim Muirhead and his daughter Alison Gray, Firhills, Letham Grange. Their showstopper was Firhills Lady, a two-year-old heifer on her first outing, by Maerdy Grenadier.

The lead Charollais also took the inter-breed honours in the sheep lines for William and Carole Ingram, sons Gregor and Bruce and daughter Amy, Logie Durno, Pitcaple.  This was the winner of the any other breed section, a home-bred two-crop ewe by Riverdale Noble.

Coming an extremely close second was the champion Suffolk, a home-bred gimmer from Graeme Christie's Balquhain flock from Inverurie. She is by Deveronvale Doodlebug.

Overall champion horse was the Highland pony, West Lodge Alby, a nine-year-old mare from Robin and Karen Stewart, shown with three-week-old colt foal at foot.
