VISITORS to the Royal Highland Show are being encouraged to hop on a tram – and the event has teamed up with Edinburgh Tram to create a joint ticket that includes both travel and entry to the show.

With just a short walk to the showground, it is hoped that visitors will make the journey by tram with stewards on hand to ensure people know the way.

Customers can purchase tram tickets on the (www.royalhighlandshow.org) website at discounted rates. Show tickets priced at £22 can be used on any day of the show.

The Royal Highland Show manager, David Jackson said: “We want visitors to have the best experience of the show from the moment they leave their home to getting back after an inspiring day immersed in everything the countryside has to offer. Our aim is to make it easy to get to and from the showground and for Edinburgh visitors the tram is an option that we wish to encourage.”

Managing director at Edinburgh Trams, Lea Harrison, said: “It’s been a great pleasure working with the Royal Highland Show on such a unique launch event. Our new partnership means we can now bring our fast, frequent and reliable service to a whole new audience. Over the weekend we’ll be offering trams from every seven minutes with journey times of less than 30 minutes between Ingliston Park and Ride and the city centre. With tickets priced at £3.20 return, trams are the obvious choice.”
