FATHER and son team, David and Ian Walker, came up in trumps in a strong line-up of Border Leicesters when they got their best result yet, picking up the supreme sash for the breed.

Having stood reserve in the section twice, it was a two-crop ewe from their 28-ewe flock at Laigh Alticane, Pinwherry, Girvan, which ruled supreme. Shown on her first outing, she is daughter of Atok Atomic and out of a ewe by Knockglass Cruiser.

Duncan Whyte, who runs his small flock at Whitelee Gate, near Newton Mearns, was back among the trophies when his male champion, Clola Double Deal, took the overall reserve honours. This shearling ram was on his first outing and is by Muirmouth Real Deal. He was purchased for £2000 at Lanark from Jimmy Douglas, Cairness.

The flock had more success when a one-crop ewe by Kilkeddan Dandy Boy and out of a Coniston Islay ewe stood runner up amongst the females. This ewe was on her second outing, having stood second prized gimmer for Duncan last year.

First time RHS exhibitor, John Barrowman, who runs his 15-ewe flock at North Knockglass, Stranraer, also came up with the goods when he produced the reserve male. This was Didcot Déjà Vu, an aged tup on its first outing, by Ditton Grand Prix and out of a dam by Ditton Distinctive.
