IT was a return to the top for husband and wife duo, Stanley and Pat Brogden, and son Thomas, when the matched their supreme title here two years ago with a home-bred, unclipped shearling ram.

This son of Kisdon Jagerbomb, a tup the Brogdens bought a share in three years ago, is out of a home-bred ewe by Buttrigg Limelight, a ram that has bred well and is a regular produced of five-figure tups in the 500-ewe Helbeck flock at Brough, Kirkby Stephen.

In reserve was the female leader, a home-bred one-crop ewe from Mark Ewbank, who runs 450 Swales at Intake, Middlesmuir, Harrogate. This daughter of the £5000 Grayrigg Hall, which has bred sons to £30,000, is out of a daughter of the £12,000 Aygill Bonanza.

Following the champion through from the tup hogg class to stand reserve male and achieve a best ever result for Graham Wilkinson, was a £9500 Bill Cowperthwaite ram. By a Muirton Hall sire, he did well for Bill as a hogg before he sold to Graham, and was shown on the with help from Graham’s son Ned, who had a ewe of his own to show, while other son Jack did well with his traditional Blues.

Lifting the reserve female title was a gimmer from GH Slack, Stoneriggs, Appleby, Cumbria
