A cracking show of livestock saw the Limousin leader from Garry Patterson, Aultmore, secure the beef championship and the overall champion of champions at a sunny, packed out Echt Show.

The event, which always pulls in a bumper quality line-up of sheep, cattle, horses and fast growing goat section, saw the four inter-breed judges give the winning sash to Foxhillfarm Miss Money Penny, a Foxhillfarm Irish Lad-sired heifer that was bought at Carlisle in May for 10,000gns in partnership with Graham Morrison, Inchbruich.

Young Eilidh and Erin Duncan, Barnyards, Clola, also enjoyed their best ever year at Echt, winning their first inter-breed sheep title with a home-bred Charollais from their Braemuir flock. Strutting her stuff all the way to the top here was Braemuir Pandora, a Riverdale Noble daughter that made up part of several winning inter-breed groups last year. The duo also scooped the reserve inter-breed group of four.

A busy sheep section again saw Stuart Wood's Woodies Beltex flock from Woolhillock in the prizes, winning the reserve inter-breed with a home-bred gimmer by Todhall Sumo, while his quartet lifted the supreme in the groups.

Back amongst the cattle and Rebecca Stuart and Blair Duffton's commercial show stopper, Gold Dust, from Insch and Huntly, respectively, continued on her winning ways to lift runner-up beef honours.

The duo also won the inter-breed beef group of three with trio of black Limousin and British Blue cross calves, with the reserve group going to another commercial group of similarly bred calves from Mark Robertson, Easter Fodderletter.

Supreme horse champion was Sue Williamson's riding pony, Chidook Shooting Times from Eskside Pony Stud, Justinhaugh, Forfar.
