Limousin cattle again triumphed in the inter-breed pairs and group competitions, winning the prestigious Blythewood continental pairs and the supreme in the junior and senior quartet competitions.

Inter-breed beef judge, Gavin Scott, Linlithgow, found his winning continental pair in the breed’s champion and reserve winners, Foxhillfarm Lordofthering and Foxhillfarm Mamamia, from Mike and Melanie Alford’s herd from Devon.

Mamamia also made up part of the winning junior inter-breed group of four, alongside Foxhillfarm Limited Edition, Foxhillfarm Missworld and Foxhilfarm Looksthepart.

The champion and reserve Limousins were also included in the supreme group along with Messrs Jenkinson’s Whinfellpark Lavender and Whinfellpark Glittered.

The Charolais breed also enjoyed a good day, bagging reserve in the continental pairs, and the inter-breed group of four.

The pairs were made up of the reserve overall, David Thornley’s Davally Igollo, and Charlie Boden’s Sportsmans Ladyship. This heifer was also part of the runner-up team along with Mr Boden’s Goldies Jerry, and Andrew and Beth White’s champion, Balbithan Iona, and Balbithan Lupin.

Having secured the individual beef inter-breed, the Simmental breed was back in business to take the blue and white sash in the junior groups. This comprised Jim and Vikki Wood’s Popes Rhona; Boddington Estates’ Sterling Bacardi’s Hawaii; Jim and Patricia Goldie’s Newbiemains Goldies Special One and Michael Barlow’s Denzies Melody 22.

Flying the flag for Scotland, Aberdeen-Angus from the Gordon Brooke Estate’s Linton Gilbertines herd from Duns, and Donald Rankin’s Kilmaluag herd from Skye, secured the native inter-breed pairs. This included the reserve breed champion, Linton Gilbertines President and Kilmaluag Etta.

Beef Shorthorns from Tracy Severn, lifted the runner-up trophy and were made up of the champion, Millerston Jester and Highlee Rose Fern.
