Despite some horrendous wet weather the day before Arran Show, a good day was had by all at the actual event, where a ridden hunter from Lois Ashley, Ardlos, Machrie, was presented the overall champion of champions trophy.

Reserve supreme was the inter-breed sheep, a Leicester from R and N McMaster, Springfield, West Bennan.

Concerns over the condition of the show field and cattle standing on such wet ground for the event, led to the cattle being assessed on farms the day before by the judge Eion Brown, Islay. As a result, only his top four choices were brought along to the show the following day, which saw a beef breeding heifer from A Currie, Birchburn, Shiskine, take the top honours with the reserve presented to the best butchers' entry from A Soutter, South Feorline, Shiskine.

A good entry of sheep was also forward complete with a great turnout of vintage tractors – 25 in all, with the added attraction of a working threshing mill.
