An 11-month-old heifer from RA Bradstock's Free Town herd, from Tarrington, Herefordshire, not only lifted the female championship, but also the supreme overall at the National Hereford Show at Tenbury Wells.

The heifer, by the herd sire, Mara Humorous, out of Free Town Decent, was described by breed judge, Des Kelly, Northern Ireland as "a sweet heifer, well balanced and very feminine. She would be an asset in any pedigree herd."

The intermediate bull champion, Haven Northstar from Edward Lewis and family, Dilwyn, Herefordshire, took the top male award before going on to take the reserve overall. Backed by home-bred genetics on both sides, Northstar is by Haven Kingpin, out of Haven Curly 124 and sold privately to CFP and SH McCreath, Longridge, Stafford, at the show.

The Lewis' also picked up the reserve male honours with his herd mate, Haven Nugget, a 17-month-old son of Kingpin out of Haven Curly 109.

Reserve female was the senior female leader from W and R Kemp and Sons, Bishop Auckland, County Durham. This was the Auckvale Broadside-sired heifer, Auckvale Lively 1058H which was shown with her heifer calf Auckvale Lively 1631P at foot.
