A good dry day saw Texel sheep from Allan Clark, Fineview, rule supreme at Colmonell, winning the supreme overall champion of champions and the inter-breed group of three.

Show stopper was a home-bred shearling ram by Scrogtonhead Vagabond, out of a home-bred ewe, which together with two other Texels from Fineview, made up the supreme group.

Reserve overall was a previously unshown Border Leicster ewe by Intock Sandy from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin.

Reserve – A and S Stevenson, T Laird and Son, Carbello, Cumnock, with a seven-year-old British Blue cross Limousin cow with four-month-old Limousin cross calf at foot by Lodge Hamlet. Confined champion – J Hyslop. Cross-bred – J Paterson and Son, Low Three Mark. Pure-bred male – J Wright, Pinmore Mains. Best beef animal – W an EI Brown. Blackface (Judge: R Colley, Mitchellslacks, Thornhill, Dumfries). Champion – Loch Ryan Farms, High Croach, with a gimmer on her first outing, by a £10,000 Elmscleughd and out of a £2000 High Croach-sired dam. Reserve – D Morrison, Dalwyne, with a one-crop we by a £5500 Gass. Ewe – D Morrison, Dalwyne. Tup, tup lamb, gimmer, group of three –Loch Ryan Farms.

Bluefaced Leicester (Judge: B Wight, Midlock, Biggar). Champion – R Wallace, Macheraquhat, with a tup lamb on his first outing. He is by an H1 Dawyck and bred from a ewe by a £16,000 F10 Penhill. Reserve – W Barrowman, Mid Knockglass, with a tup by £14,000 Cottage sire. Tup, ewe lamb –W Barrowman. Tup lamb, ewe and group – R Wallace. Gimmer – G Allan, Highfield Place.

Border Leicester (Judge: Suzie Kinlock, Elsrickle Mains Cottage, Biggar). Champion, reserve and confined – W and T Nelson, High Kilphin, with a ewe by Intock Sandy, out of Drennans Finbob, on her first outing. Reserve was a ewe lamb, of the same breeding as the champion.

Mule (Judge: B Wight, Midlock, Biggar). Champion – G Allan, Highfield Place, Ochiltree, with a gimmer that was champion at Dalrymple and first at the Highland. She is by a Midlock G37 and out of a home-bred ewe. Reserve – A McQuistin, Barnshangan, New Luce, with a ewe lamb that was champion at Stranraer and fourth at the Highland.
