Northallerton Holstein breeders, JL Miles and Son, Ellerbeck, went straight to the top to win the grand championship at the Northern Dairy Expo, staged at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Their show stopper, Littlebridge Goldchip Honey, a home-bred heifer in milk, which stood reserve breed champion at the Great Yorkshire and champion at the North Yorkshire County Show, is by Mr Chassity Gold Chip and out of the Ex93 Littleridge Shottle Honey 2. She was paraded by Lizzy Miles.
The same home also produced the supreme calf in the August born Littlebridge Goldwyn Sonya.
Judge, Andrew Cope of the Huddlesford herd found his reserve overall grand champion in local breeders' Evening Holsteins' four-year-old in milk, Warnelview Cup Irene, from Thursby, Carlisle.
Messrs Williamson from Calthwaite, Penrith, won the three-year-old class with Ingleden Goldfish Galilee.
A strong show of calves saw the youngest section won by M Armstrong's Wolfa Solomn Fleur, from Penrith, which went on to stand reserve calf to Goldwyn Sonya. Senior calves were led by C and AJ Woodhouse's Shoreline Mesdoor Molly.
