A GOOD strong show of calves was forward for the Scottish Holstein Club's annual Calf Show at Lanark Market, where the judge, Michael Hallwell, Wales, found his top winner in Craig Cochrane's Sahara Drummer Sara.

Mr Cochrane's calf, a 16-month-old bought at the Stars of the Sahara sale in February, for the Ayrshire-based Maverick herd, is bred from the 2016 honourable mention All Britain senior heifer, Sahara Brokaw Sara and sired by Seagull-Bay Supersire son, Wiltor Drummer.

Reserve calf was Willie and Shona Watson's Muir Monterey Franci from The Muir, Mauchline. This yearling by View-Home Monterey, is out of Muir Gerard Franci.

Alison Hunter, Tarbrax, Shotts, was also in the tickets, taking the honourable mention with her calf and reserve overall in the showmanship section. Her calf was the nine-month-old Letterkenny Solomon Flo, bred from Feizor Deman Flo ET and sired by Walnutlawn Solomon ET.

Champion showperson was this year's Highland Show stockperson of the year, Zoe Bryson, from Lanarkshire, with Emily Hodge taking honourable mention.
