A BRITISH Blue cross bullock from Keith YFC member, Mark Robertson, Easter Fodderletter, Tomintoul, ruled supreme at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' North Region Young Farmers' show of overwintered cattle at Thainstone this evening.

The 11-month-old bullock named Gordy was bred by D McLaren, Classlochie and bought from Gordon Cameron, Newton Cottage, Acharacle, last October for £1180. Weighing 518kg, Gordy was Young Farmers Rising Stars champion last year and stood reserve bullock champion at the Royal Northern Spring Show.

Mark Robertson had more to celebrate when he stood champion in the home-bred section with a British Blue cross bullock. Born in April 2017, he is out of a dam which bred Super Ally - Mark's home-bred champion here in 2013 which sold for £4200 - and Um Bongo, the YF Christmas Classic bullock champion in 2016. He tipped the scales at 410kg.
