There was very much an international flair to the proceedings at a glorious Fife Show, with a French-bred dairy cow winning the coveted overall champion of champions ahead of an Irish-bred Simmental.
The event, held just outside Cupar, attracted what must have been a near record-breaking crowd, with a packed ringside forward to witness judge Stewart Stevenson, Bonerbo, give the winning slap to the Wilson family's Holstein champion, Lieu Thomain Heliot.
"She's a fantastic Holstein and a true working dairy animal showing herself in full production," said Mr Stevenson, who grew up with milking cows.
Star of the show and securing a third overall championship for the 365-cow herd from Carskerdo, was last year's breed leader from Kinross Show, brought out by Andrew and Pat Wilson.

Not just a pretty face, this Ex94-classified fourth calver imported from France in February 2017, gave more than 11,250litres in her third and since calving in February is producing 63litres per day.
For the overall, Mr Stevenson had to select a winner from the supreme beef, dairy, sheep, horse and the commercial beef champions, with his choice of reserve presented to the inter-breed beef, an Irish-bred Simmental bull from Gordon Clark, Broombrae, Auchtermuchty. This was Lisglass Goldstar, a 21/2-year-old Dermotstown Delboy son bought at Stirling last year from Leslie and Christopher Weatherup.
There were more celebrations to come over in the sheep lines when the McKerrow boys – David and sons, David and James, Nochnary, Freuchie – not only won the Texel championship but also their first supreme sheep award here. Their best, a home-bred gimmer by Knock Yankee from the 40-ewe flock, was certainly up to the mark too as she is a full ET sister to the family's champion winner at the Great Yorkshire, last year.
