A BLACKFACE ewe hogg from Andrew Fletcher’s 60-ewe flock at Laigh Hatton, Bishopton, ruled supreme at this year’s Houston Show, when show president, Ian Anderson, awarded it the red, white and blue sash ahead of the dairy, beef, Clydesdale and horse champions.
Securing a second show supreme title here for Laigh Hatton, having won the same award back in 2014, was a home-bred ewe hogg by a £2000 Midlock – a son of a £35,000 Dalchirla bought at Dalmally two years ago in partnership with Messrs McKirdy and McAlister, from Bute.
Barnsford Meadow, from Tom and Sheena Gatherer, Barnsford, Inchinnan, carried on her winning ways when she picked up the top ticket in the cattle section. This two-year-old Goldies Eddy daughter, out of Alwent Broom – the mother of the 70,000gns Barnsford Ferny – stood champion of champions last year and was breed champion at Drymen.
