The Farmers and Farmers’ Wives Choir will be performing at the Royal Highland for the fifth time – this year it’s on Saturday, June 23.

The concert takes place on the West Band Stage from 12pm-12.45pm and again in the Main Ring at 3.30pm.

The choirs were formed in September 2013 after a call for past and present young farmers to take part in the 75th Anniversary Concert of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC).

According to the choir conductor, Mrs Kate Picken: “There were no thoughts to anything beyond our performance at the SAYFC concert in November, 2013, but we have been absolutely delighted to have been asked to sing at many events and have been successful in raising money for charity by doing so.

“One of the many challenges in life is taking care of our mental health and well being. As a choir, our message to help raise awareness of mental health issues is through the beautiful lyrics of a song we plan to sing at the show.

“We are keen to support the ‘mind your head’ campaign which has been recently launched by the Farm Safety Foundation and that’s where any monies raised from the show will go.”
