UNDETERRED by the cold, wet and miserable day that greeted most of Scotland on Saturday, a decent number of exhibitors attended the show, with high numbers in all sections.

Topping the sheep lines was George Allan, of Highfield, Ochiltree, and that was with a Scotch Mule gimmer, bought privately as a ewe lamb.

Next in line to George was James and Jamie Nisbet, of Orchardton Farm, Ochiltree. That was with their Bluefaced Leicester ewe lamb, which is by a cottage sire, and she was picked out as reserve in the sheep lines.

They were both placed by inter-breed sheep judge, David Gray, of Drumnessie, Kilsyth.

Ewan Kennedy, of Perryston Farm, Ayr, was champion in the inter-breed dairy section, and that was with his Holstein, Clydeview Mogul Barbie.

She is a heifer by Mountfield Mogul, and was heifer champion at Ayr this year. In reserve was Shaun Rennie, Brocklehill, with Leasbock Atwood Paradise, a four-year-old Holstein cow.

Continuing her winning streak, Sexy and I Know It, Jennifer Hyslop’s 15-month-old Limousin heifer, was inter-breed beef champion, before going on to be placed overall cattle champion, and in reserve to her in the beef section was the Brown family’s Aberdeen-Angus cow.
