Heaton Seren secured the prestigious overall horse title at this year’s Royal Northern Agricultural Society’s Spring Show, from 107 entries.

Exhibited by Aina Barnwell, this five-year-old mare stood as overall ride and drive champion on her first outing as a senior. She caught the eye of Judge, John Karwl-Jacks from Belgravia Stud.

Runner up went to the Clydesdale champion, Collessie Alanna from Ronnie Black. Four-years old, this mare was judged by Ron Brewster, Bandirran Stud. She is sired by Arradoul Balvenie and out of Roughlands Jasmine. Alanna had a great winter season last year having stood champion at the Grampian foal show and reserve overall at the Society Winter Fair.

Blair Warburton’s, two-year-old filly, Windyknowe Kerrera, stood reserve Clydesdale champion. Bred by Dorothy Combe, she is a daughter of Dillars Top Maverick and out of Windyknowe Chloe.

Taking top honours in the Highland pony section was John Reid’s Ben Macdui of Strathavon. This seven-year-old stallion stood champion at Turriff, and is sired by Dunedin Marksman, out of Esha Ness of Strathavon.

It was the six-year stallion, Murdoch Mhor of Cleag Dhubh, from Ruaridh Ormiston, Kingussie, that took the reserve spot in the Highland pony section. Sired by Arisaig Lucuag Mhor of Cleag Dhubh.

Winning the Shetland section was Lynemore Mirrie Dancer from Christine Forbes, having been selected by the judge, Eleanor Warren from Minathort. The five-year old mare is sired by Lynemore Illusion and stood champion at Keith Show last year.

Unigarth Elena from Steven Sinclair, Orkney, landed the runner up in the Shetlands. This three-year filly is sired by Wells Real Lucky and is a full sister to last year’s Royal Highland Show champion, Unigarth Evangeline.

Supreme in the Minature Shetland Pony section was Helawi Highland Laddie from Ann Irvine. This eight-year-old stallion is by Helawi Northern Pride.

Lynda Cochrane’s two-year-old filly, Abbeygreen Verona, sired by Halstock Denver, was awarded the reserve miniature.
