TO SUPPORT its agronomic team in Scotland, Agrovista has appointed East Lothian-based agronomist, Fergus Scougal, to cover his home area and the Borders.
He gained a degree in agriculture at SRUC but prior to this, gained valuable on-farm experience through a range of practical roles.
Following graduation, Fergus joined Agrii where he became an expert in precision farming as well as row crop agronomy. He joins Agrovista as a BASIS and FACTS qualified agronomist for the area.
The 28-year-old said: “My aim is to be a good agronomist with honest values by doing the best job that I can for the farmer. This is how I want to do business – building long-lasting relationships with my customers.
“I’m looking forward to working for Agrovista as the company shares those values. The team is farmer-focused and offers solutions that are practical, not unrealistic.
“I’m not from a farming background but agriculture has long been my interest, particularly the technical side of agronomy. I’d say my specialism is row crops – cereals, potatoes and field vegetables.”
