IT HARDLY seems possible but the meteoric rise in the availability of precision farming systems is typified by the news that SoilEssentials, the Angus-based specialist is celebrating 20 years of trading this year and 10 years in partnership with machine control specialists, Trimble Agriculture.

Robert Ramsay, SoilEssentials’ commercialisation director told The SF: “SoilEssentials has been delighted and proud to represent Trimble in their ‘Northern UK’ territory over the last 10 years. The combination of Trimble’s world-class machine control product range and our attention to detail in the fitting and supporting has helped countless farmers throughout Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Northern half of England.”

“Trimble is the backbone of our machine control offering and when combined with our own extremely reliable and trusted EssentialsNet RTK correction service and our precision agronomy services and variable rate products, allows us to offer complete and integrated solutions to farmers joining and continuing the precision farming journey.”

“When we established SoilEssentials 20 years ago, we could only dream about some of the technologies that we are now bringing to the mainstream of agriculture. Over the past 10 years, we have integrated Trimble machine control systems with our tech allowing us to recommend, create, install and support bespoke precision farming systems for our clients, regardless of crops, terrain, farm size or machinery brand,” he added.

“I believe this is key to enabling sustainable profitable crop production for our clients and, dare I say it, much more effective than simply accepting an off-the-shelf product from a tractor manufacturer.”

Graham Ralston, hardware director at SoilEssentials, explained more about how they work together: “We love to talk to our customers and just as important, we listen… to understand them and their business fully so that the combination and arrangement of products and services are the right ones to fit into their farming activities and business.

“Farmers are continually being challenged and looking for answers to make their lives easier and more profitable. It is not a case of one size fits all, and with the choice in the portfolio available to us, the possibilities are near endless.”

Trimble’s Lee Clarke added: “The territory covered by SoilEssentials in Northern England and all of Scotland is home to some of the most progressive and efficient farming businesses in the British Isles – in many cases, it’s all about us helping them to boost their business profitability and sustainability.

“To do this we need an in-field team we can trust, and SoilEssentials have been first class at providing a professional supply, installation and support service to Trimble customers over the past 10 years.

“It’s also great to see it develop its own precision farming products to complement the Trimble Portfolio and ensure a bespoke service for the farmers,” he said.
