A FARM dog has achieved a new record in Australia, selling for $22,000 or approximately £12,500.
The Kelpie, Glencairn Seven, a two-year-old from Christian Peacock, Waterloo, was sold at the Casterton Working Dog sale in Victoria, to an undisclosed buyer from Hamilton, superceeding the previous record of €14,000 (£7950) paid in March, this year.
Good working dogs are attracting top prices in Australia at present due to the improved wool market, with the recent sale in Victoria witnessing 50 Kelpie dogs change hands to average €5289.
The $22,000 sale compares to a 14,100gns record high sold in the UK at Skipton Auction Mart in 2016.
