A GOOD offering of quality-bred lambs was presented to a strong force of buyers at United Auctions' annual show and sale of Blackface wedder lambs at Oban, where a total of 3093 sheep were sold.
Averages improved on the year as the sale of store lambs levelled at £40.79 (+£8.97) with Blackie wedders at £36.51 (+£4.30) having been topped by the champion pen from Saulmore at £51.50.
Judge Alan King, from Reid and Robertsons, awarded the second prize ticket to a pen from Achalic which made £45 while the third prize pen from Glenfeochan hit £43.50.
The sale of store lambs peaked at £71 for Bleu du Maine crosses from 2 Bonawe Croft.
