A CHARITY event, which will raise funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, is set to receive an early donation after Thainstone Mart's mixed ram sale, next week.

The event, being organised by Aberdeenshire farmer's daughter, Megan Stephen, will be a dinner dance, Weir Dancing For Doddie, at the Thainstone Exchange, on Saturday, Janaury 26, 2019, and Rodney Blackhall, of Banchory, will donate the earnings from the sale of his Texel shearling at Thainstone in order to kickstart donations for Miss Stephen's fundraising campaign.

Explaining why she is hosting the event, Miss Stephen, said: "Things happen in life that don’t directly affect you or your family, but can have an impact on your emotions and how you feel, and when I heard of Doddie Weir's diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, I felt moved by his story and had an impulse to do something to help him, and so I decided to organise this event.

"I have been totally overwhelmed by the support so far and I am so grateful to Rodney for kindly donating the money from the sale of his tup."

Sired by the 32,000gns Arkle Yingyang, and out of the 15,000gns Kelso President, the tup will be the first Texel shearling to be sold in the ring: lot number three, ring three, at around 12noon, on Tuesday, September 25,
