A DUTCH Texel shearling from G Pyman, Park View, and his son Tom, topped Penrith and District Farmers' Mart annual show and sale of 601 rams, when it sold for £1800 to GW Lee and Sons, Stockley Burn Farm, Co Durham.

All rams met a strong throughout, as the sale averaged £430 (+£50 on the year) and saw forty tups sell above the £800 bracket, with several selling in excess of £1100.

Two other rams came under the hammer at £1600 including another Dutch Texel shearling from Park View, and a Beltex shearling from JM Thompson, Townfoot.

Amongst the tup lambs, trade reached £850 for a Texel from P Chester, Grass Gill Lodge.
