Wigtownshire Roussin breeder, Martin McCornick, came up trumps at the Roussin Sheep Society show and sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, selling the top priced male and female at 680gns and 500gns, respectively.
Mr McCornick, who owns the McCornick flock from Boreland, Kirkcowan, topped the trade with the third prize ram lamb, a March-born trip son of the home-bred sire, Ginster. He sold to Messrs Limond, Cumnock, Ayrshire.
The flock's lead female, a gimmer which also secured the overall championship, is by McCornick Zero, made 500gns selling to John Fleming, buying for his Stairhaven flock from Castle Sinniness, Glenluce, Newton Stewart.
Financing that transaction, Stairhaven received the exact same money for the second prize tup lamb, from Messrs Thackray, Prion, Denbighshire.
Top priced shearling at 620gns came from Derek Steen's Ballylinney flock from Lockerbie, which was purchased by Messrs Coulter, Biggar.
Averages: 14 shearling rams, £303.00 (-£33.88 for two more); 19 ram lambs, £273.55 (-£3.87 for one more); 22 gimmers, £243.55 (+£23.57 for two more); 15 ewe lambs, £161.00 (-£83.50 for eight more).
