A NEW centre record price of £2400 was paid for a pen of three gimmers at United Auctions' annual sale of 5602 Blackface gimmers and draft ewes, last weekend.
The pen from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, were knocked down to R Lennox, Northern Ireland.
Draft ewes peaked at £550 for a pen of 10 from by Ewen Macmillan, Lurg purchased by M Harrison, Northern Ireland.
A good ringside of buyers and strong demand throughout, saw averages up on the year with accredited ewes rising £1.72 to level at £65.84, while non-accredited rose £20.39, to £67.72.
Accredited gimmers averaged £83.91 (-£3.89) and non-accredited, £113.56 (+£17.98).
