Aberdeenshire Lincoln Red breeder, Sharon Buchan, came home in style from the breed's small but selective show and sale at Newark, having produced the champion and reserve females while also selling two of the three highest priced lots at 3000gns twice.

Mrs Buchan who owns the Auchmacoy herd from Ellon, first received this money for the in-calf heifer, Auchmacoy Heroine V366, a daughter of the Market Stainton George-sired bull, Auchmacoy Lancelot, bred from the Auchmacoy Langworth daughter, Auchmacoy Heroine P120. Female champion at the pre-sale show, she changed hands due in April to Brackenhurst Whistler and heads home with A Bainbridge, Aylesham, Norfolk.

The same buyer also went to 2800gns for another from Mrs Buchan. This was the similarly aged Auchmacoy Ada V357, by the Beverley Henchman-sired Auchmacoy Lancaster. Another due in April to Whistler, she is bred from a previous home-bred Ada by Langworth.

The second 3000gns sale from Auchmacoy came for the 10-month-old heifer, Auchmacoy Bianca W446, which was purchased by local breeder, Mrs Burditt, Newark. She is by the Auchmacoy Lancelot son Auchmacoy Usama and bred from another previous Bianca, by Lancelot.

Matching the 3000gns bid was the top priced bull from Iken Hall Farms, purchased by RG Parkinson, Louth. This was Yarn Hill Wilbur, a 20-month-old son of Hemingby Jaguar out of a home-bred cow by Market Stainton Keeper.

Averages: 11 in-calf heifers, £1722.95; 14 maiden heifers, £1380.00.
