A LIMOUSIN heifer from D Lumgair and Sons, Gask, claimed the championship honours at Lawrie and Symington's annual Christmas show and sale of primestock, before going on to sell for the top price of £2603.80 or 470p per kg.

With a strong show of 50 prime cattle forward, pre-sale judge, Scott Watson from Carnoustie, awarded the tri-colour rosette to the 554kg heifer which later sold to Scott Bros, Dundee.

Gask also claimed the best animal of opposite sex to the champion with a 613kg British Blue bullock which made 250p or £2145.50 to Rennie Butchers, Forfar.

Scooping the reserve honours was a Limousin heifer from JA Peters and Sons, West Bog. Weighing 586kg, she also sold to Scott Bros, Dundee, for 320p or £1875.20.

Among the prime lambs, Stuart Stark from Milton of Campsie, Glasgow, tapped out a pen of three Beltex scaling 45kg from CL Wylie and Son, Balbrydie, as champion, before buying the trio for £155 per life.

The reserve honours went to a Texel trio weighing 47kg from D Stewart and Son, Mains of Dalrulzion, which later sold for £135 to WE Fairlie, Letham.

Lawrie & Symington, Forfar held their Annual Christmas Show and Sale of Primestock, comprising

50 Prime Cattle, 16 Cows and 550 Prime Sheep & Cast Ewes.

Outwith the show, 454 prime lambs averaged 176p with SQQs at 185p. Top price was £90 for a pen of Beltex from Scobshaugh, while cast ewes reached £103 for Beltex from Witton.
