The January show and sale of dairy cattle at Lancaster produced a top price of £3250. This was paid for the reserve champion, Galastar Mogul Ola 2, consigned by Enchanted Holsteins.
With a PLI of £373, having calved mid-December and giving 34kg, she sold for £3250 heading to R and RA Jones, Pied House, Garthmyl, Powys.
Show champion was Pennine Poppy 1376 from Drinkall Bros. Yielding 31kg, having calved in December, she sold at £2300 to the judges, JB and JB Lawson, Bank End, Cockerham.
Making £2800 was Bilsrow Caballero Elite, from Tomlinson Bilsrow. The buyers of this heifer were R and RA Jones.
Staying with the heifers, the pick of the group entered by J Burrow and Son, Tunsteads, was Stardale Mars Vaakje 3. With 12 generations of VG and EXs behind her, she sold to D Davies, Gwndwn, Newinn, Camarthan for £2500 who also took home Ingleview Dempsey Crystal for £2450.
Moving onto the cows, leading the way was a second calved from the Inman Family. Witherslack Solomon Vall was currently yielding 42kg and sold for £1980 to JS and KM Wilson and Son, High House, Longmeadow Lane.
Other notable entries on the cow front included a second calver entered by MJ and H Atkinson. Wyredale Alpine Sonya 3 yielding 40kg sold for £1800 to MJ and K Ayrton, Bambers Farm, Moss Lane.
