Jimmy McMillan's small but selective Brandane herd from Sacombe, Ware, led the way amongst the Simmental females producing not only the champion and reserve winners but also the led priced lot at 13,000gns.

Mr McMillan who is also stockman for the Borlase family's Sacombe herd, first produced the champion winner in the shape of Sterling Fcuk Impuls, a two-year-old heifer bought at the Sterling dispersal here last year. She is by Sterling Gino 15 and out of the Sterling Cotswold 11 daughter, Sterling Candy's FCUK. First at the Highland Show and reserve female at the English National and the Royal Welsh, she was bought by Phil Simmers, Backmuir, Keith.

Mr McMillan who owns four Simmental females and one Charolais also produced the reserve female in Brandane J-Lo, an AI daughter of Team Celtic out of Sterling Bacardi's Funky. This 13-month-old heifer was knocked down to pedigree breeder, Nick Gwynne, Castlewigg, Whithorn, Newton Stewart.

Second top price amongst the heifers was 4200gns paid for Ross King and his father Alex' Wolfstar Islay, another by Team Celtic, this time from the Wolfstar herd based at Ormiston, Haddington. Unplaced at the pre-sale show, this 22-month-old entry was knocked down to Phil Simmers and is out of the Hiltonstown Solomon daughter, Wolfstar Wish.

Another heifer selling at 3500gns was SP McDonald's Coolcran Aiona Royal Beauty, an October 2017-born entry from Coolcran, Tempo, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. She is by Kilbride Farm Bantry, out of the Hillcrest Champion daughter, Raceview Farah Royal and heads all the way up to Shetland with S Ridland, Berga, Westerskeld, Bixter.

The sole cow, Denizes Fancy Therese 5, a five-year-old from Michael Barlow and Sons 60-cow herd from Leyland, made 5000gns selling to Lindsay and Robert Currie, buying for their Braegarrie herd from Pinclanty, Girvan, Ayr. Bred from a strong family line that has produced bulls to 10,000gns, she is by Whitemire King Kong and out of the Ashland Tornado daughter, Denizes Fancy Therese. She sold with her June-born heifer calf at foot, Denizes Fancy Therese 14, by Blackford Galaxy and in calf to the former Highland Show champion, Blackford Galaxy which was bought privately from the Macphersons.
