More than 70 animals were forward for the first weekly dairy sale staged between Wright Marshall and Hassall Brothers in the new purpose built facilities capable of housing in excess of 200 head of adult cattle, at Beeston.
Trade was consistent from start to finish, with a top highest disclosed price of £1880 paid for Mikali Elude Lexine, from David Rutter. Calved mid February and bred from six generations of top scored cows, this fresh heifer sold to T Lea, Sherwin Ltd, Stanthorne, Middlewich.
Just behind on £1850, AD Mares, Darwen, sold the similarly aged fresh heifer Greengrass Sid Dotty, to Bowdler Farms Ltd, of Amaston,
Shrewsbury, who also went to £1800 for two calved heifers WA Jones and Son, Fenns Bank. Whitchurch.
A good entry of cross-bred and more grass-based animals were forward and sold to £1520 for Shorthorn heifers from N Hitchen of Luddenenfoot, Halifax.
In-calf heifers peaked at £1360 from RN Morris of Baddington, Nantwich, with maiden heifers to £750 and yearlings to £600.
