The BAFTA's of the Holstein industry took place at Carlisle last weekend, following another highly successful Borderway UK Dairy Expo, with Scottish-bred cattle from the Logan, Blythbridge and Parkend herds all making their presence felt in the 2018 All Britain Awards.

The awards are a judgement of the quality of an animal which has been exhibited within the show ring at recognised shows or events during the year of competition.

Leading the fray for Scotland was Logan Integral Jodie Red, from Brian and Sheila Yates and son Michael's Logan herd from Castle Douglas, which won the All Britain Junior two-year-old in milk. A daughter of Blondin Integral bred from Sterndale Sterling Jodie, this big white heifer was reserve junior red and white at the 2017 UK Dairy Expo and first in her class as a red and white and a black and white at the 2018 event.

Notably, the exact same female also won the reserve overall red and white cow.

This year’s awards saw a strong entry of more than 120 animals judged by Kevin Wilson (Warnelview), Mick Gould (Woodmarsh and Edward Griffiths (Coachgate) who were all most impressed with the standard of nomination
