The countdown is on to discover who will be crowned Chef of the Year 2019 at this year’s Edinburgh Evening News Restaurant Awards. The “Chef of the Year” category, sponsored by Scotch Beef PGI, recognises the flair, skill and creativity demonstrated by top chefs in Edinburgh.

The second annual Edinburgh Restaurant Awards take place at The Principal Hotel in Edinburgh on Monday, May, 13, 2019 and will feature 14 categories, honouring all that is good about eating out in Scotland’s capital city.

The evening will celebrate the booming culinary scene that Edinburgh has to offer and will be attended by hundreds of restaurant owners, chefs, food bloggers and key hospitality individuals who work relentlessly to offer some of the best gastronomic experiences in the country.

Ciara El-Mansi, PR and marketing executive at QMS, said: “Quality Meat Scotland is delighted to support the ‘Chef of the Year Award’ which offers an excellent opportunity to celebrate the talent, innovation and passion of chefs in Edinburgh. The food industry in the capital is growing day by day and the passion and knowledge demonstrated by our chefs is instrumental in helping to build Scotland’s reputation as a Land of Food and Drink. Last year’s ‘Chef of the Year’ winner was Scotch Beef Club member, Mark Greenaway and we look forward to being able to recognise another exceptional chef in 2019.”

The category of ‘Chef of the Year’ will be judged by a panel of food and drink experts primarily on presentation, cooking skills, knowledge and taste. The judging panel will also judge the chefs on the inspiration and drive they have shown in building their restaurant to what it is today.
