Loosebeare Ned, the overall champion from the Quick family's Loosebeare herd from Devon, proved the star attraction at a Limousin spring show and sale at Brecon, last weekend, selling for the top price of 5900gns.
The bull, selected by society chairman, Michael Cursiter, Orkney, is a rising two-year-old by the herd’s 19,000gns stock sire Ampertaine Jeronimo and out of Loosebeare Gemma, a Haltcliffe Anzac daughter. He was bought by BD and O Comer, New Moonleaze Farm, Braydon, Swindon.
The same home also produced the 5200gns sale in the shape of Loosebeare Newcastle, another by Jeronimo, this time out of Loosebeare Gladys, a Gronw Cheeky-sired cow. Second in his class to the overall champion, this rising two-year-old was snapped up by EH Bennett and Sons, Trellwydion, Llanbister, Llandrindod Wells.
Second top price was 5400gns paid for Will and Jackie Forrester's September 2017-born Twemlows Neutron, from Twemlows Farm, Whitchurch, Shropshire. Got by AI, he is sired by Swarland Eddie, out of Twemlows Holly, a Sympa daughter and sold to A Thomas, Llanligo, Monaughty, Knighton, Powys.
