Aberdeenshire Blue Texel breeder, Stasa Moyse had a field day at a breed show and sale of Blue Texels at Carlisle, last weekend, selling the majority of lead priced lots including the top three at 2800gns, 1800gns and 1600gns.

Stasa who runs the Saltire Blue flock alongside partner Stuart Wood, Woolhillock, Skene, topped the trade with the March-born tup and ewe lambs, Saltire Blue Delia and Saltire Blue Derek, which sold with recipient dam to Northern Ireland Beltex breeder, Matt Burleigh, Enniskillen.

The lambs are bred from Saltire Blue A Beauty, a Hackney X-Factor show ewe that stood first prize aged ewe at the Highland last year, and sired by the 2500gns Caryl's Blues Captain.

Earlier, Jimmy and Graeme Sinclair, Crookston, Heriot, forked out 1800gns for Saltire Blue Britney, a gimmer by the 3300gns Hackney Your Joking out of an imported ewe. She also sold with tup and ewe lamb at foot, again by Caryl's Blues Captain.

The father and son duo were back bidding later, forking out 1200gns for the ewe hogg, Saltire Blue Call Girl, another by the same sire but out of an imported ewe.

Third top price was 1600gns paid for Saltire Blue Destiny, a February-born ewe lamb by Blues Captain out of Saltire Blue Betty, that sold with recipient dam to Andrew Ewing, buying on behalf of a client.

Three other ewe hoggs by Hackney Your Joking made 1200gns of which two sold to Messrs Stephenson, Market Weighton, York. Saltire Blue Cover Girl and Saltire Blue Cow Girl are both out of imported ewes.

The final 1200gns bid was given by Messrs Cochran, Darwen, Lancashire, for Saltire Blue Caleigh.

Outwith the Saltire consignment, trade peaked at 1200gns for a Turbo Blue ewe consigned by Paul Tippetts and Christine Williams, Shifnal, Shropshire. Bred by J Rodenburg, this 2015-born import, is by the Dutch sire, Dreuze and sold with ewe lamb at foot, Hackney Donna, to Messrs Hardman, Lowbands, Gloucestershire
