Top prices at Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale of 421 stores were 275.5p per kg for a 363kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Altyre Estate and £1190 for a 631kg Simmental cross from Wester Moy, Urray.

Overall, bullocks averaged 235p while heifers levelling out at 210.9p selling to 256.6p twice for 265kg Limousin crosses from Strong farm, Banavie and Corriebag, Banavie and £1200 for a 615kg of the same breed cross from Wester Moy.

Some 951 store cattle were forward for Lawrie and Symington's fortnightly sale where bullocks averaged 213.4p per kg whilst heifers levelled at 201.1p.

Top price amongst the bullocks was £1150 for a Limousin cross from Rowanhill while a Charolais cross topped the pence per kg at 258.7p for I and L Buchanan, Wee Carleton.

Heifers also peaking at £1150 twice for Limousin crosses from Knockshinnoch Farm and Hattonknowe Farm and 243.6p from Drumalbin Farm.

Dairy bullocks sold to £915 for a Friesian from Over Kypeside Farm, to average 145p per kg.

Some 57 breeding cattle were also forward to include the dispersal from D Taylor, Haggmuir Farm, who topped the trade at £2350 for a Limousin cow with heifer calf.

Some 789 store cattle, 184 cast cows and 155 breeding sheep were forward at United Auctions's sale where bullocks averaged 218.34p having sold to 297.80p per kg for a 267kg Limousin cross from Gateside, and £1330 for a 612kg Charolais cross from New Carden.

Heifers sold to 267.30p for a 333kg British Blue cross from Mid Shawton, while a 593kg Charolais cross from Lady bank made £1210. The average was 209.97p.

On Monday, the firm staged it's second May sale of breeding cattle where a Limousin with calf from West Thomaston topped the entry of 463 head, at £3500.

Store cattle continued to meet a buoyant demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of 1100 plus cattle, where bullocks levelled at 218.5p and heifers at 219p per kg.

Bullocks sold to 285.7p per kg for a 210kg Charolais cross from 2 Bogie Street, Huntly and £1390 for a 758kg Simmental cross from Home Farm, Fetteresso.

Leading the heifers at 270.9p were three 454kg Simmental crosses from Culquhassen, Glenluce, while a Fleckvieh cross from Home Farm, Fetteresso, made £1310.

The 85 head of adult breeding cattle peaked at £2550 on two occasions.

The entry of 1149 ewes with lambs were dearer on the week.

All classes sold well at Craig Wilson's sale of 608 store cattle, where bullocks sold to £1390 for a Charolais from Chalmerston, while top price per kg was 261.8p paid for Limousins from Broadshean.

Overall, 338 bullocks averaged at 217.5p or £865.63, while heifers levelled at 210.7p or £845.49 having sold to £1285 for an Aberdeen Angus from Clevance and 263.2p for Limousins from Maxwelston.

Friesian bullocks were topped at £935 from Crawlaw or 172.4p from Stevenston, with the 41 head cashing in at 210.7p and £845.49.

Trade for the 248 breeding sheep was slightly back, selling to £190 for Texel gimmers with Beltex lambs from Messrs Dunlop, Holehouse Farm, Ochiltree.

An Angus bullock from Snowhill Partners, Ericstane, Moffat topped C and D Auction Marts' fortnightly sale of feeding cows, store and breeding cattle at £1090. Heifers peaked at £1050 for a British Blue from the same home.

Breeding cattle sold to £1450 for a Limousin cow with heifer calf from TM Ewart, Barkbeth, Bassenthwaite whilst Beef Shorthorn bulls sold to £2000 from MJ and JA Dobson, Hillhead, Dumfries.

A larger show of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot were forward for the second prize show and sale.

Mule hoggs and lambs from Messrs Winter, Clickham, were awarded champion and went on to sell for the joint top price of £100, purchased by the judge, Stuart Lake, Hethersgill.

Also selling at £100 was the second prize pen of Texel cross hoggs and lambs from Messrs Taylor, Harras, selling to Messrs Fleming, Woodfoot.
