Cheshire farmers, WD and D Norbury and Son, Broad Lane Farm, Crewe, bought the majority of the lead priced lots at a pedigree sale of Dairy Shorthorns and commercial milking females at Penrith, to include the top two disclosed lots at 2010gns and 2000gns.
Sale leader was Winbrook Dewdrop 154, a heifer in milk from GA and D Dent's Winbrook herd from Winton House, Kirkby Stephen.
Just behind, on 2000gns was the similarly aged heifer, Churchroyd Strawberry 14, an ET-bred entry from IRG Collins and Partners, Church Farm, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Cows sold to 1950gns for Oxton Foggathorpe 839 from Oxton Grange, Tadcaster. The buyers were S Bolton and Son.
The sale of 33 entries from 10 leading herds in the North of England saw milking cows average £1697.50; milking heifers, £1590.06 and maiden heifers cash in at £875.00.
