A reduced number of cattle was forward for Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of store and weaned cattle, where Limousins from Brough, Clappers topped both the steers and heifers at £1200 and £1165 respectively.

British Blues led the way amongst the weaned cattle, where heifers sold to £1115 from Oakghyll whilst steers peaked at £895 from Albierigg.

A strong show of calves and striks were forward at Hope’s auctioneers sale where a steady trade was seen throughout with British Blues from Messrs Wright, Tarnrigg Moor, topping both the bull and heifer striks at £610 and £445 respectively.

Younger calves peaked at £365 from Messrs Watson, Millrigg with bulls and £345 for heifers from the same home.

Also forward was a small number of dairy cattle which sold to £1600 for a heifer from Low Blaithwaite.

Friesian bullocks sold to £700 and 130.1p from Newfield, to produce an average of 128.5p.

Just short of 200 store cattle were forward for Aberdeen and Northern marts’ weekly sale comprising of 51 bullocks, 118 heifers and seven bulls.

Bullocks sold to 263.3p for Charolais from Braeside, Inverurie and £1170 for Limousin crosses from Malt Croft, Kildrummy, to level at 200p.

Heifers peaked at 234.7p for Limousin crosses from Pittenkerrie, Glassel and £1090 for a 478kg Simmental from Culroy, Glenluce, to average 200.8p.

Simmental crosses from Mains of Drumdollo, Drumblad led the bulls at 190.4p and £910.

Also forward were 76 ewes with lambs which sold to £60 for continental hoggs with singles from Blackfolds, Corse and for Suffolk gimmers with singles from Causewayend, Hatton of Fintray.
