All classes met a buoyant demand at Harrison and Hetheringtons weekly sale of 730 store cattle comprising of 436 catalogued cattle and un-entered bulls, stirks and 294 calves.

The sale topped at £1235 for a Charolais cross bullock from JA and LA Thompson, Wood Head, Scaleby. Heifers peaked at £1085 on two occasions both for Limousins from by J and S Roe, Croft House, Burgh by Sands.

Top price within the weaned cattle was £980 for a Limousin bull from Messrs Cowan, The Ash, Roadhead.

More than 300 cows and heifers with calves or in-calf were forward for the firm's monthly sale of beef breeding cattle. Messrs Brown, Claughton Hall sold a Limousin cross heifer with calf for £2900 to top the trade. Cows with calves sold to £2000 for more of the same breed from Kinknockie.

In-calf cows peaked at £1400 for Limousins from Dovenby Craggs whilst in-calf heifers sold to £1260 for Simmentals from Sunnyhill.

Craig Wilson's sold 305 store cattle at their weekly sale, top price was £1245 for an Aberdeen-Angus heifer from Clonherb and 218.8p for Limousins from Maxwelston. Heifers averaged 190.1 p whilst bullocks levelled at 197.5p. Bullocks peaked at £1220 for a Simmental from Barrodger and 234.3p for Limousins from Busbiehill.

The firm also held their dairy sale with nine dairy cattle and 81 calves and stirks forward. Dairy cattle sold to £1920 for a Holstein Friesian Heifer from J Cousar, Grange of Cree, Newton Stewart.

United Auctions held their fair day show and sale of 326 cattle where bullock calves averaged £1008.79 per head and 216.5p per kg whilst heifer calves levelled at £870.77 and 206.7p.

Aberdeen-Angus' led the way in the bullocks at £1240 from Balegreggan and Carskiey Estate. Heifers peaked at £1190 and 200p for more of the same breed from Balegreggan.

Champion calf in the show was a Limousin bullock from DW Semple and son, Dippen which later sold for £1200. A Charolais bullock was tapped out as reserve from A Ronald, East Laggan achieving £1150.
