The sale topped at £1185 for a Limousin cross bullock from JS and J Whitfield, Orton Rigg, Great Orton. Heifers peaked at £1130 for the same breed from JW and G Roe, Reservoir Farm, and bulls saw a top of £1180 for a Charolais bull from P A Kermode, Orrisdale Farm.

Charolais crosses from Polquhairn led the way at United auctions sale of 558 cattle and 132 cast cows topping both bullocks and heifers in the pence per kg section at 240.6p and 223.5p respectively.

Topping the per head bullocks was a Aberdeen-Angus cross from North mains of Baldovan at £1260, whilst heifers peaked at £1125 for the same breed from Wrights house. Bullocks and heifers sold to an average of 198.35p and 188.75p respectively.

More of the same breed also topped the heifers at 211p from J and J Kinloch, Walton, Cardross and £1010 from A McMillan, Black Park, Wigtownshire.
