An unshown gimmer from Myfyr Evans' Rhaeadr flock took the top spot in the females at the Scottish National show of pedigree Texels at Lanark, selling for 9000gns.

The gimmer from Mr Evans' small flock from Tan-Yr-Accar, Llanrhaeadr, Denbigh, Denbighshire, is a daughter of the retained sire Rhaeadr Ace which is a maternal brother to the 125,000gns top priced ram, Rhaeadr Best of the Best sold here last year, out of a 7200gns Baltier female bought at Carlisle, by Glenside Whiz Kid. She sold to South of Ireland breeder, Michael Power, Co Limerick.

Another the same way bred from Rhaeadr made 3400gns selling to Herefordshire-based breeders, James Amphlett and Ellie Owens, Leominster.

Second top price was 8500gns paid for another unshown gimmer, this time from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, purchased by the pre-sale judge, Charlie Boden buying for his Sportsmans and Mellor Vale flocks from Stockport. Buying back some of his own genetics, this entry is a daughter of the 130,000gns Sportsmans A Star, out of an Ettrick-bred dam by the Knock Topaz and sold with semen from the 125,000gns Rhaeadr Best of the Best.

The reserve female champion from Richard Wilson, Lowfield, Appleby, Eden Valley, came under the hammer for 6800gns again selling to Michael Power. She is sired by Knock Yankee, bred from an Anglezarke Uno-sired ewe and stood eighth at this year's Great Yorkshire Show.

Overall female was a gimmer from William McCaffrey's Scholars flock from Brookside, Lower Wych, Malpas which made 6500gns selling to Rob Evans, buying for his Hope Valley flock from Fox, Minsterley, Shropshire. The breeding behind this transaction includes Eden Valley Wiz Kid onto a Tophill Union Jack-sired ewe.

Next best 4500gns was a gimmer from Northern Ireland breeders, Brian and George Hanthorn's Mullan flock from Abbey Lodge, Coolkill, County Armagh, purchased by Messrs Teward, Darlington Maternall sister to Mullan BFG and a full sister to a 2000gns gimmer sold here last year, she is by Strathbogie Yabba Dabba Doo and out of a home-bred ewe by Garngour Upperclass.
