A mixed show met a strong demand at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale of 81 store cattle and 65 adult head of breeding cattle.

Bullocks averaged 198.0p having sold to 259.7p per kg for a 335kg Limousin cross and £920 for a 415kg entry of the same breed both from Glenside, Glenurquhart.

Limousin crosses also topped the heifers at 200p from Corslet Farm, Rosemarkie and £1030 from Milldam, Meikle Ussie.

Young bulls sold to £940 for a 500kg Charolais cross from Shoreton, Culbokie.

A steady trade was seen at Harrison and Hetherington’s fortnightly sale of store cattle, where trade peaked at £1115 for a British Blue heifer from Laverockhall.

British Blues from the same home also topped the per kg heifer section at 199.5p.

Bullocks peaked at £965 for an Aberdeen-Angus from Cumstone and 201.8p for a Limousin from the same home.

Carlisle

The champion, a Limousin cross from Middle Bank End, at Harrison and Hetherington’s show and sale of store cattle secured the lead bullock price of £1370.

Top price however was £1550, paid for a Limousin heifer from The Throp.

Weaned cattle peaked at £1150 for a Limousin bull from Fairspring farm.

Gleanlea topped both the heifers and steers at £1055 and £950 respectively.

The monthly sale of breeding cattle two days later saw a top of £2750 for a Limousin cross cow and calf from Arngill House.
