Overall averages improved by £1.32 per head at Hawes Auction Mart's two-day show and sale of 23,459 North of England Mule ewe lambs which sold to a top of £370 to average £80.38.

Leading the trade was the first prize pen on the Tuesday from Messrs Lord, Stainmore, purchased by regular buyers, Winter Bros, Crickham, Appleby.

Two pens realised £300 per head to include the second prize pen on the Monday from S Allan and Sons, Appleby and the second prize pen on the Tuesday from WA and A Booth, Feizor. They sold to J and H Tustian, Banbury and M and D Allen, Borrowby Grange, Whitby, respectively.
