Forfar

Limousins from Nethermyres topped Lawrie and Symington's sale of 21 prime cattle where trade peaked at 258p per kg and £1475.76.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 227p and 222p respectively.

The same home led the way in the heifers at 246p and £1367.76.

Also forward were 639 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams where Texel ewes sold to £99 from Hole O'Clean. Lamb trade peaked at 200p for a Beltex from Scobshaugh, Clochie and Goddens and £91 from the same home, to level at 159.8p.

Dumfries

Some 71 cattle were forward for C and D auction marts' weekly sale which sold to 230p for a Limousin cross bullock from H W Sloan, Rigghead.

OTM cattle peaked at £1037.50 and 125p for Limousins from Tregallon.

A stronger trade was met in the 1585 prime sheep that were forward where trade peaked at £159.50 for Texel ewes from Castlehill and more of the same breed topped the lambs at £89.50 from Fardingjames.

Cockermouth

A steady trade was met at Mitchells auction sale of primestock with 74 cattle forward comprising of 63 cull cattle and 11 prime bulls.

Prime bulls sold to 193.5p for a Limousin from P and PI Walker and Son, Beechcroft and £1343.22 for more of the same breed from D and MA Wilson, Lamplugh Hall.

East House led the way in the cast cows at 149.5p for a Limousin and £1040.25 for a British Blue.

A smaller number of entries were forward but met a stronger demand for the 1367 prime sheep including 947 lambs and 420 cast ewes and rams.

Top was for Texel Lambs from Messrs Cartmel, High Low Hall which sold to £111 and 231.10p was paid for a Bleu du Maine from Messrs Cartmel, High Low Hall.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian marts' sold 147 cattle comprising of 84 prime bullocks, heifers, young bulls and 63 OTM cattle.

Limousin's led the way in the heifers at 240p from W Dandie and Son, Learielaw, Broxburn and £1445 from JH and NT Turnbull, Meadownend, Clackmannan.

Bullocks sold to 228p on three occasions from D McLaren, Classlochie, Kinross, J and J Wylie, Knockhouse, Crossford and JH and NT Turnbull, Meadowend, Clackmannan, and to £1478 for a Limousin from JH and NT Turnbull, Meadowend, Clackmannan.

St Boswells

Bullocks and heifers averaged 198p and 194p respectively at Harrison and Hetherington's primestock sale.

Trade peaked at 250p and 222p for a heifer and bullock respectively from Bee Edge.

A similar trade was met in the prime sheep where trade peaked at £99 for a Texel from Crookston and 213.9p for a Beltex from the same home.

Texel ewes peaked at £107 from Roxburgh Mains.

Penrith

A small number of cattle were forward for Penrith and District farmers' marts fortnightly sale.

A British Blue bullock peaked at £1426.95 and 188.5p from TJ Noble, Mellgates.

Also forward were 3137 prime sheep, comprising of 1204 lambs and 1933 cast ewes and rams. Topping the sale at 214p was Texel cross lambs from S Peet, Langwathby.

Lanark

Limousins topped Lawrie and Symington's weekly sale of 52 prime bullocks, heifers, seven young bulls and 79 cast cows and bulls.

Heifer's sold to 250p from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, whilst bullocks peaked at 233p from Messrs Allison, Muirburn, Skirling, to Chapman butchers, Wishaw.

Also forward were 2801 lambs and 2014 cast ewes where trade peaked at £100 twice for Beltex from J Currie, Haswellsykes, and Texels from R Struthers, Collielaw, and to 238p for Beltex from Haswellsykes.

An overall sheep sale average of 162p was achieved along side an SQQ of 164.5p.

Newton Stewart

Some 1694 prime and cast sheep were forward for Craig Wilson's sale where lamb trade peaked at £88.50 for a Suffolk from W and WS Stewart, Knockcoyd and to 191.07p for Beltex from S Service, Balgreggan.

Ewes sold to £123 for a Texel from Balgreggan whilst tups peaked at £74 for Beltex from WE Maxwell, Enoch.

Wooler

A steady trade was met at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of lambs and ewes which sold to £100 for Texel ewes from Reavley Greens.

Lamb trade peaked at £85 for Texel's from Kettleburn and 200p for Beltex from Chillingham Home.

Huntly

Some 2425 prime sheep were forward at United Auctions' where new season lambs sold to 167p for a 48kg Texel from Aswanley, Glass and £83.50 for a 58kg Texel from Raws, Dufftown.

Suffolk topped the ewes at £97 from Ballintomb whilst the same breed topped the rams at £112 from Glenavon.

Stirling UA

A large number of 6955 prime sheep were forward for United Auctions' sale which lambs averaged 158.54p.

Texel's led the way in the ewes at £139 from Cherryfield whilst it was Bluefaced Leicesters that topped the tups from Pitlivie.

New season lambs peaked at £98 and 218p for Beltex from Coilavoulion.

Thainstone

Limousin's led the way at Aberdeen and Northern marts' sale of 44 prime cattle where bullocks and heifers averaged 185.3p and 200p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 219p from Mill of Newton, Insch, and £1288.85 from Greenstyle, Kildrummy whilst heifers peaked at 225p for more of the same breed from Millbank, and £1329.30 from New Mains, Glenkindie.

Also forward were 2274 prime sheep, feeding ewes and rams which peaked at 170.7p for Beltex lambs from Bankhead, Portlethen and £90 for Texel lambs from Inverebrie, Ellon.

Longtown

A smaller number of entries were forward for C and D auction marts' sale of 6892 sheep comprising of 2420 prime lambs and 4472 cast ewes and rams.

The prime lambs sold to average 164.1p and an SQQ of 164.5p which was up just two pence on the week.

Top price per kg was 222p and £100 for Beltex lambs from J Merral, The Green, Irthington.

Ayr

A strong trade was met at Craig Wilson's sale of 188 prime and cast cattle where bullocks and heifers averaged 185.9p and 223.5p respectively.

Also forward were 2665 sheep comprising of 1789 lambs and 876 cast sheep where trade peaked at £88 on two occasions, firstly for Beltex lambs from J Kennedy, Lyonston and then for Texel from Tormitchell, Tormitchell.

Top price per kg was 204.7p for more Beltex’s from J Kennedy, Lyonpark.

Dingwall

A small entry of just 17 prime cattle were forward for Dingwall and Highland marts' sale where trade peaked at 209p for a 540kg Limousin cross from Ashley, North Kessock and £1301.50 for a 685kg Simmental cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

Limousin crosses from Bridgend, Dingwall led the way in the heifers at 200p and £1299.30.

Also forward were 1158 prime sheep which produced an average of 147.4p.

New season lambs sold to 163.8p and £77 for Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge whilst a Texel ewe from Wester Moy, Urray peaked at £145.

Carlisle

Limousin cross heifers from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton triumphed at Harrison and Hetherington's primestock sale selling at £1538.76 and 240.5p.

Whilst the same breed led the way in the bullocks at £1616 and 210.5p both from High House.

Also forward were a large number of entries, 2532 lambs and 290 cast sheep, which produced an overall average of 171.73p and an SQQ of 177.29p.

The sale topped at £103.80 and 241p for Dutch Texel lambs from Messrs Wigham, Hargill House, Haltwhistle.
