Limousins led the way at Lawrie and Symington's weekly sale of 29 prime cattle, six OTM where bullocks and heifers averaged 225p and 224p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 230p per kg and £1439.80 for a 626 kg Limousin from Nethermyres.

The same home topped the heifers at 260p whilst Limousins from the Gask peaked at £1444.60.

Also forward were 1021 prime sheep, cast ewes and rams where trade peaked at £91 for Texel ewes from Sidlaw.

Prime lambs sold to 184.8p for Texel's from Whitemyre and to £87 for more of the same breed from Templeton, to average 156.4p.

Penrith

Texel's triumphed at Penrith and District farmers' mart fortnightly sale of 3181 prime sheep comprising of 1727 prime lambs and 1454 cast ewes and rams.

Topping the sale at 243p was 43kg Texels from WH Brass, Low Row which achieved an SQQ of 179p.

Cast ewes met a sharper trade on the week, topping at £159 for a Beltex from G and JE Bell, Far Broom.

Wigton

More prime cattle were forward for Hope's auctioneers sale where a steady trade was met, trade peaked at 220.50p for a 615kg Limousin heifer from DA Harrison, Hill House.

Bullocks received 208.5p and £1417.80 for Crosby House with a 680kg Limousin.

Also forward were 1674 lambs and 195 ewes where lambs sold to an overall average of 192.2p. Topping the trade was a Beltex lamb at £130 and 322.5p from Messrs Trafford, Bassenthwaite Hall.

More of the same breed topped the ewes at £133 from Messrs Tweddell, Haltcliffe Bridge.

Cockermouth

Limousin's from P and PI Walker and Son, Beechcroft, topped Mitchells auction sale of 20 cattle comprising of 11 cull cattle and 9 prime bulls at 200 pence per kg and £1310.

An improved entry of 1344 prime sheep sold to an increase average of 171p and an SQQ of 175p. Top price of £135 was paid for Texels from KA and R Campbell, Shepherd’s Hotel and 223.1p for more of the same breed from I Fisher, Croft End.

Stirling (Cale)

More than 200 cattle were forward for Caledonian marts weekly sale comprising of 86 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 65 OTM cattle and 53 young calves and stirks.

Prime heifers sold to £1513 on two occasions, both from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie and 235p on two occasions, from A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie, and D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.

On three occasions the top price of 230p in the heifers was achieved from from Faskine, Airdrie and twice from Brockwoodlees, Canonbie and to £1508 from Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.

Young bulls peaked at 182p on two occasions for Limousins from J McHarrie, Duchrae, Stranraer and to £1372 for an Aberdeen-Angus from R Clowes, Newhall, Solsgirth.

Newton Stewart

Some 1088 prime and cast sheep were forward for Craig Wilson's sale which sold to average 162.5 pence per kg.

Topping the trade at £88 was Texels from W and S Kerr, High Boreland, and 184.6p for Beltex from G Milroy, Mains of Machermore.

All classes of ewes would be slightly back on the week selling at £93 for Texels from A Johnstone, South Balfern, with tups topping at £79 for Beltex from J McMillan, Carse O’Clary.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly primestock sale of sheep comprising of lambs and ewes.

Texel's from East Newburn led the way at £94 and 247.37p whilst the same breed topped the ewes at £95 from Wellhouse.

Huntly

Texel's topped United Auctions' sale of 2351 prime sheep where trade peaked at 163p per kg for 44kg Texel lambs from Moss Street, Keith, and to £90 for 66kg of more of the same breed from Braehead, Huntly.

Suffolk rams sold to £106 from Kennieshillock whilst the same breed topped the ewes at £90 from Old Watten.

Stirling UA

United Auctions' sold 5516 prime sheep comprising of 3763 prime lambs and 1753 ewes and rams, where lambs averaged 157.8p.

New season lambs peaked at £101 for a Beltex from Groan and 217p for the same breed from Easterton.

The same breed topped the rams at £71 from Kilwinnet whilst it was Texel's the took top in the ewes at £141 from Nether Stewarton.

Thainstone

It was a day for Limousins and Charolais at Aberdeen and Northern marts' sale of 69 prime cattle.

Bullocks averaged 181.5p and sold to 214p for a 540kg Limousin from Mains of Knapperna, Udny and £1306.70 for a 730kg Charolais from Hillside, Insch.

More Limousin's topped the heifer trade at 221p from Chapelford, Buckie and £1315.80 from Euchries, Crossroads, to level at 198.6p.

Also forward were 1394 prime sheep and feeding ewes and rams where new season lambs averaged 152.5p.

New season lambs sold to 182.1p for Beltex from Roadside Croft, Muir of Forgie, and £82 for Continental from Hillview, Brae of Scurdargue, Rhynie.

Longtown

More than 7100 sheep were forward for C and D auction marts' sale comprising of 3031 prime lambs and 4159 cast ewes and rams to produce an overall average of 163.8p and an SQQ of 165.2p.

Top price per kg of 227p was paid for Beltex lambs from E and RE Eastham, Longburgh Fauld, Carlisle and £95 was also achieved for Beltex lambs from JA Gracie and Sons, Byreburnside, Canonbie.

Ayr

A steady trade was met at Craig Wilson's sale of 188 prime and cast cattle where bullocks and heifers averaged 185.9p and 223.5p respectively.

Top price was 238p and £1332.80 for a Limousin heifer from Girvan Mains or £1332.80 whilst bullocks peaked at 191p for the same breed from Borland.

Also forward were 781 cast sheep and 2082 prime sheep where trade peaked at £85 for a Texel from W McGill, Auchenwynd and 192.9p for two Beltex’s from Messrs William Stevenson and Son, Auchenflower, to produce an average of 151.6p and an SQQ of 153.9p.

Lanark

Limousin heifers led the way at Lawrie and Symington's weekly sale of prime stock where trade peaked at £1524 from I Wainwright, Todhall and 242p from D Dickinson, Brockwoodless, Canonbie.

More of the same breed topped the bullocks at 236p and £1450 from I Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar. Young bulls sold to £1191 from Mackiesmill and 186p from Newsteadings.

Also forward were 3116 lambs and 2468 cast ewes, the sale was topped at £152 by Texel ewes from I Laird, Yeldabrek.

Lamb trade peaked at £88 for more of the same breed from H and A Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, and to 195p for Beltex from I Laird, Yeldabrek, to average 155p/kg and an SQQ of 157p.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington sold 65 clean cattle, 38 cast cows, 1563 lambs and 915 ewes at their weekly sale of primestock.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 190p and 208p respectively.

Top price amongst the heifers was 248p from Mosstower whilst the bullocks peaked at 220p from Upper Nisbet.

Texel's topped the lamb trade at £100 from Legars and top price per kg was 217p paid for a Beltex from Crookston, to level at 162.2p.

Ewes sold to £139 for Texel's from Elmscleugh.

Dingwall

Some 40 prime cattle were forward for Dingwall and Highland marts' sale where bullocks and heifers levelled at 194.4p and 204.1p respectively.

A 590kg Limousin from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, topped the bullocks at

222.0p and £1309.80.

Heifers sold to 221.0p for a 500kg Charolais cross from Teawig, Beauly, and £1320.60 for a 620kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

Also forward were 741 prime sheep where trade peaked at £96 for a Texel ram from Cross Skigersta Road, Ness.

New season lambs sold to 173.9p per kg and £80 for Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, to level at 151.8p.

Wigton

A small number of prime cattle were forward for Hope's auctioneers sale where heifers peaked at 205.5p for Limousins from Messrs Gray, East Mill.

Bullocks sold to 185.50 for more of the same breed from Messrs Bowe, Mechi.

Also forward were 1403 lambs and 188 ewes with top price of the day, £116 paid for Texels from JE Brockbank and Sons, Westward Park.

Prime lambs met a steady trade throughout peaking at £121 and 296.3p for a Beltex from Messrs Trafford, Bassenthwaite Hall, to average 188p and an SQQ of 191p.
