Young Rosie Boden came up trumps to sell the lead priced lot at the second show and sale of pedigree Beltex sheep at Carlisle, when her ram lamb, Mellor Vale Emporer, made 3200gns.

The lamb, a son of Clary Cosmos, from Mellor Hall, Mellor, Stockport, is bred from the Airyolland Weapon daughter, Mellor Vale Coco Channel ET. Third in his class at the pre-sale show, Emporer was knocked down to Andrew Wood, Whittingham, Preston.

A substitute entry from Richard and John Wood's Kingledores flock from Broughton, Biggar, sold next at 1700gns. Kingledores Emperor ET, is by Bailey Brook Chief, bred from the Kingledores Wigglesworth-sired dam, Withy Trees Buttercup and sold to Messrs Nicholson, Kilkeel, Newry, Co Down, Northern Ireland.

The male champion and supreme overall from Matthew Burleigh, Shanra, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, came under the hammer for 1500gns when selling to Messrs Kirkham, Asbourne, Derbyshire. This ET is by Hackney Download ET and bred from Matt's Angel ET.

Mr Burleigh also took 1100gns for his next lot, another ET this time bred from Matt's Atomic ET and sired by Matt's Defender ET. The buyers were Messrs Frankland, Giggleswick, Lancs.

Top price for Stuart Wood's Woodies flock from Skene, Aberdeenshire was 1250gns paid for the fourth prize ram lamb, Woodies Eye Catcher ET. Messrs Gregory, Lockerbie, forked out the cash for this son of Bailey Brook CR7 ET, bred from Woodies Currency.

Entries from Sue and Jeff Wilkinson's Langlands flock from Barningham, Richmond, topped the females selling three of the top four highest priced females at 2500gns, 1200gns and 1000gns. Dearest was Langlands Diva ET, a gimmer bred from the Glenkeen Sanders daughter, Kingledores Bright Eyes ET and sired by Smart Ass Alfie ET. The buyers were Kevin Buckle and sons, Jack and Tom, Kirkby Stephen.

Minutes later, Langlands Destiny ET, the female champion and reserve overall champion sold to Mathew Burleigh, Co Fermanagh. His purchase is bred from the Lyonpark Thurst ET-sired Langlands Ample ET and sired by Cromwell Cadillac ET.

Langlands Darling, by the same sire but bred from Woodies Whats The Story ET, made 1000gns selling to Messrs Jones, Nebo, Llanrwst, Gwynedd.

Matching that price, Welsh breeder, Tomos Evans, Coedhirion, Carmarthen, sold his second prize gimmer, Welsh Dream Girl, a Withy Trees Alf daughter that stood fifth at the Royal Welsh, to Messrs Scott, Greenhead, Brampton. She is out of Wiskers Sweet Grace, a Freckleton Painter-sired ewe.

The sale of the mature portion of Jackson family's Headlind flock from Lanarkshire, peaked at 900gns for Headlind Countess ET, a one-crop ewe by Callacrag Wise Crack, purchased by Messrs Jones, Nebo, Llanrwst.
