It was a poignant day for all when David and Rosemarie Cornthwaite dispersed their Maybe

Limousin

herd, established 25 years ago at Balgray Hill, Lockerbie.

The sale, staged at Carlisle, and alongside a consignment of heifers from DJ and SM Thomlinson's Beeches herd from Park View, Scaleby and the entire crop of autumn 2017 and spring 2018-born heifers from Steven Wilson's Impulsive herd, Corby Hill, Carlisle, was topped at 6500gns by the Maybe stockbull, Lowflan Lee.

A son of Gunnerfleet Eros bred by Ian Wilson and Carol Wood, out of the Sympa daughter, Lowflan Harmony, this four-year-old was knocked down to Herries Farms, Dumfries.

The Maybe dispersal which was staged due to family circumstances as the couple look to reduce the workload heading towards retirement, saw progeny of the Lowflan stockbull sell next at 5000gns and 4400gns. Dearest was the 19-month-old bull, Maybe Obladioblada, out of the Norman Graham-sired heifer, Maybe Letitbe, which again sold locally, purchased by Messrs Halliday, Tundergarth, Lockerbie

Also heading home on the same lorryload to Tundergarth at 3200gns was Maybe Lookout, a four-year-old cow by Netherhall Epic out of Maybe Evasive. She sold with May-born heifer calf by Lee.

Andrew Ewing, Annan, bought several lots including the polled yearling heifer, Maybe Oasis at 4400gns. She is bred from the Asheburn Intrepid daughter, Maybe Microscosm.

Intrepid was the sire of the 17-month-old young bull, Maybe Organic, which made 3600gns selling to JD Bowness, Cliburn Hall, Penrith. He is out of Maybe Biological, by the French sire, Marquis.

Just behind on 3500gns E Mason and Son, Middleton In Lonsdale, Carnforth, bought the 13-month-old young bull, Maybe Oboe, another by Lowflan Lee, this time out of the Wilodge Cerberus daughter, Maybe Jaleika.

Top price amongst the cows was 3400gns paid for the show cow Maybe Janeter, a five-year-old by Norman Graham out of the Bremore Artist-sired Maybe Edgirl. She changed hands with July-born heifer calf at foot by Lowflan Lee, to W and M Graham, Cumdivock, Dalston, Carlisle.

Her daughter, Maybe Neatandtidy, by Gallaway Joey, made 3300gns selling to Richard Carruthers, Merkland, Thornhill, Dumfries. She sold due in December to Lee.

Steven Wilson's batch of heifers was topped at 3000gns by the November 2017-born Impulsive Nicole, a Loosebeare Justin daughter out of the Plumtree Fantastic-sired Gunnerfleet Hannah. The buyer was Helen Wilson, Wreay, Carlisle.

And heifers from the late David Thomlinson's and his wife Sheila's Beeches herd sold to 1100gns on three occasions.
