Just shy of 20 years of dedicated pedigree Aberdeen Angus breeding came to an end at Stirling on Monday, when Andrew Shufflebotham dispersed his Cheerbrook herd from Nantwich, Cheshire, to a top of 12,000gns and 10,000gns for a cow and calf outfit.

The cow, Cheerbrook Pam, a three-year-old Fernhill Fantastic daughter, bred from the Netherallan Peter Pershore-sired Fernhill Pammy, also boasts Transformer in her bloodlines. She sold in calf to Cheerbrook Luther, a Gretnahouse Blacksmith son, for 10,000gns to John Walsh, Brockhurst Farm, Bury, Lancs.

Her six-month-old bull calf, Cheerbrook Profile, by Cheerbrook Luther, then made 12,000gns selling to Martin McCornick, Boreland, Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart.

Keeping it in the family, Fernhill Pammy, a seven-year-old ET bred from a flush from Netherton Pam, a Netherton Trendy Man daughter, made 4500gns. The buyer was Norbreck Genetics, Norbreck, Cockerham, Lancaster. She also sold due to Luther.

Cheerbrook Pam, a five-month-old heifer bred from Pammy and sired by Blelack Duke, made 4500gns to Tangent Estates, Easton Grey, Malmesbury, Wilts.

Another bred from the same flush, Cheerbrook Profit, a bull calf, made 3500gns selling to O Tunney, Manor Farm, Cuddington, Cheshire.

The same buyer also went to 10,000gns for the six-month-old heifer calf, Cheerbrook Blackbird. Another by Cheerbrook Luther, she is out of the Blelack Prince Consort-sired Cheerbrook Blackbird.

Her mother, Cheerbrook Blackbird, an ET bred from a flush from the Sitz Traveler-sired Penguin Blackbird, and sired by Blelack Prince Consort, made 5500gns selling to RK Harding, Shrewbridge House, Nantwich, Cheshire.

Mr Harding was back in action forking out 5000gns for Schivas Lady, a 20-month heifer by Netherton Kentucky, out of the Blelack Evril daughter, Schivas Lady, whose full sisters have already sold for £7800 and £4800.

The dam, a six-year-old daughter of Nightingale Poldark out of Logie Lady, realised 4000gns to R Lane, buying for the Penguin herd from Windy Meadow, Edgmond, Newport and again sold due to Luther.
