Harrison and Hetherington had forward 1864 head of cattle at their weekly sale comprising of 886 store cattle, un-entered young bulls and stirks and 262 calves.

Store cattle sold to £1160 for Limousins cross steers from Messrs Hume, The Finches, Coldstream whilst heifers peaked at £1135 for more of the same breed from the same home.

Also forward were 639 suckled calves which was topped at £970 for Limousin cross bullocks and heifers from Messrs Vance, Bridgehouse Farming Co.

A smaller show of 190 weaned cattle peaked at £890 for British Blue heifers from Messrs Routledge, Lordstown.

Bullocks sold to £1130 for Charolais from East Middle and 204.9p for Limousins from Saughtree. Aberdeen-Angus' led the way per head in the heifers at £960 from Nether Whitlaw whilst in the pence per kg section it was Limousins from Todshawhaugh that sold for 225p.

Also forward were store sheep, where trade peaked at £58.50 for Greyfaced from West Morriston Cottages.

Limousin bullocks led the way at Craig Wilson's sale of 699 store cattle where trade peaked at £1200 from Lauren Kennedy, Ladywell Place and 216p from Little Airies and also for Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from Whatriggs.

Heifers sold to £1085 for an Aberdeen-Angus from Mackailston and 218.2p for a Limousin from Beoch, Maybole. Bullocks and heifers averaged 191.3p and 182.6p respectively.

Also forward were 1283 breeding and store sheep which met a steady trade.

Bullocks peaked at 223.20p per kg for a 448kg Limousin cross from Catslackburn, and to £1200 for a 656kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Gateside.

Limousin crosses topped the heifers at 229.20p from Little Inch, and to £1150 from Groan.

Dingwall and Highland Marts held the sale of 1333 weaned calves at their annual district ballot show and sale, judged by B Duffton, Bogie Street, Huntly, who awarded the overall champion to a 395kg, nine-month-old Limousin heifer from the Firm of J Munro and Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, later realising £1250.

The reserve champion was a 310kg, six-month-old British Blue cross bullock from Messrs Hugh MacKay, Wester Tomloan, Ardclach, selling for £950.

Bullocks (750) averaged 221.9p (-5.7p on the year) and sold to 313.7p per kg for a 255kg British Blue cross from Wester Tomloan and £1145 for a pen of 576kg Charolais crosses from Milton Farm, Aberarder.

Heifers (581) balanced out at 208.9p (-9.7p on the year), peaking at 362.1p per kg for a 290kg Limousin cross from Invercharron, and £1250 for a 395kg Limousin cross, also from Invercharron.

Young Bulls (2) cashed in at 184.6p per kg, topping at 193.5p per kg for a 310kg Limousin cross from Achentoul Farms, Kinbrace and £600 for a 340kg Simmental cross from Garbeg, Drumnadrochit.

Heifers and bullocks averaged 180.5p and 197.6p respectively.

Limousin crosses led the way in the bullocks at 252.4p from Keil farm, Ardgour and £800 from Cuilchenna, Onich.

Young bulls sold to 154.4p and £400 for a 259kg Highland cross from Upper Glenfintaig Estate, Glenfintaig whilst breeding cattle peaked at £1100 for a Limousin cross cow with a male calf at foot from Dalreoch, Roy Bridge.
