Lawrie and Symington had forward 25 prime cattle and 661 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams.

Bullocks sold to 2.36p for a 606kg Limousin from Mill of Inverarity and £1458.20 for a 634kg Limousin from Nethermyres, to average 224p. Nethermyres also topped both sections of the heifers with a 578kg Limousin selling at 2.54p per kg and £1468.12. Heifers averaged 233p.

Prime lambs (567) were again dearer to 255.6p and £115 for Beltex from Scobshaugh to average 189.1p with an SQQ of 185.8p.


Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart held their weekly sale of prime sheep, comprising of 2550 lambs and 2403 cast ewes and rams.

An SQQ average of 194p/kg was achieved with a top of 249p paid for a pen of 37kg Beltex lambs from F Dickinson, Low House.


A Charolais bull from P and PI Walker, Beechcroft, led the way at Mitchells Livestock Centre's sale of 47 cattle comprising of 33 cull cattle, 10 bulls and four clean cattle, 2500 prime sheep including 1905 lambs and 595 cast ewes and rams. The sale leader sold for 197.5p per kg or £1425.95.

A Beltex lamb from AJ Wood, Woodhall Brow, topped the pence per kg among the sheep at 255.3p whilst top per head was £123 for Texels from F Gate, Sally Hill.


A steady trade was met at Hope's Auctioneers' sale of 25 prime cattle where trade peaked at 227.5p for a 546kg Limousin heifer from W Miller, High Aketon.

A Limousin also topped the bullocks at £1515.80 from J Dixon and Sons, Lesson Hall, who also produced the lead priced heifers at £1451.

Also forward were 1451 prime lambs which sold to £120 for a Beltex lamb from Stephen Peile, or 292.1p per kg from M Bindloss and Son, Shap Abbey.

Stirling (Cale)

Limousins led the way at Caledonian Marts' sale of 232 cattle comprising 93 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls as well as 117 OTM cattle and 22 young calves and stirks.

Heifers topped at 242p for a Limousin from A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie, and £1534 for more of the same from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.

Limousins also topped the bullocks at 228p from T Paul and Sons, Kinninmonth, Kinglassie, and to £1492 from Carrick Primestock, Lyon Park, Maybole.

All classes of lambs were easier on the week, with the overall average for 1912 sold being 178p (-8p on the week) (+16p on the year).

Top price of the day at £100 went to Doune Farms, West Lundie for a 46kg Beltex and 226p for a 42kg of the same breed from R A Campbell and Sons, Meikle Seggie.

Stirling UA

Texel ewes topped United Auctions' sale of prime sheep comprising of 5720 prime lambs and 1599 ewes and rams, selling at £118 from Muirpark.

Beltex from Groan led the lambs at £109, which sold to average 187.78p, whilst the tups were topped by Texels from Head of Balglass at £103.


Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of primestock, including ewes and lambs with the latter averaging 184.5p with an SQQ of 192.7p.

Texels from Lilburn led the trade £94 and 214.3p whilst more of the same topped the ewes at £99 for North Sharperton.


A steady trade was met at United Auctions' sale of 1768 prime sheep, where new season lambs sold to 204p for a 38kg continental from Achaguie, Scotscalder and to £94.50 for 56kg Texel from Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, to level at 180.96p.


More than 32 prime cattle were forward for Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale where bullocks and heifers averaged 211.4p and 202.9p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 218p and £1384.30 for a 635kg British Blue from Waterside Forbes, Alford, whilst heifers peaked at 227p for a 595kg Limousin from Mid Harlaw, Inverurie, and £1425.45 for a 645kg British Blue from Waterside Forbes.

The same market also sold 2380 prime sheep and feeding ewes and rams, where lambs (1525) averaged 188p (+11.5p) having sold to 230.8p for 39kg Beltex from Blenaboth, Glenkindie and £105 for 69kg Texels from Kingswells Croft, Oyne.


A Black and White cow from Messrs Hewson, Jerriestown, Blackford, topped C and D Auction Marts' fortnightly sale of prime cattle at 115p.

The weekly sale of sheep saw a larger show of 5173 prime lambs forward and an overall average of 191.6p (SQQ 195.1p), achieved. Beltex from Carse of Clary sold to 266p whilst more of the same sold to £115 for Fearn.


Limousins led the way at Lawrie and Symington's sale of 186 cattle comprising of 90 prime bullocks and heifers, six young bulls, 90 cast cows and bulls and 40 calves.

A heifer topped the trade at 250p for D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, with bullocks selling to 232p from Messrs Allison, Muirburn, Biggar.

Some 3402 lambs and 1676 cast ewes and rams were also sold and topped at £105 for Beltex from Messrs Taylor, Heatheryhall, and to 232p for more of the same from Hope, Nether Skellyhill, to produce an overall average of 185p and an SQQ of 189p.

St Boswells

On Monday, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly primestock sale of cattle and sheep with bullocks and heifers averaging 197.83p and 200p respectively.

Bullocks (22) sold to 228p (+17p on the week) from Bee Edge whilst heifers (57) peaked at 252p (-8p on the week) for Upper Nisbet.

The 2241 lambs levelled at 183.7p (-6p on the week) having sold to 227p for Beltex lambs from Wester Ulston.


A Beltex from W and A Watson, Muir, Mauchline, topped Craig Wilson's prime sheep sale at £100 with the entry of 2804 sheep comprising 2350 prime lambs and 453 cast ewes and tups.

Top price per kg was 218p for Beltex from R Goldie, Dustyhall, Dalrymple.

On Tuesday, the firm's sale of prime cattle saw just 19 forward which sold to 242p per kg for Limousin heifers from D Campbell, Greenridge, and to £1309.80 for another Limousin heifer from Messrs Wallace, High Glentriploch.


A sharper trade was met at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of prime cattle and sheep which saw 480 cast cows, bulls and prime cattle, along with 4015 prime and cast sheep forward.

Heifers sold to £1894 and 269.3p for a Limousin cross from Messrs Pearson, High Plasket Lands, Maryport, while steers peaked at £1627.17 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Dixon, Low Whinnow, and 224.5p for a British Blue cross from High Plasket Lands.

An overall average of 183.62p and £84.85 and an SQQ of 192.2p was achieved among the prime lambs which sold to £120 for Beltex cross lambs from A and B Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas, and 264.7p for a Beltex from A and A Little, Hollands, Penton.


Just 14 prime cattle were sold at Dingwall and Highland Marts' where trade peaked at 200.0p per kg for a 590kg Limousin cross heifer from Bridgend, Dingwall, and £1264.20 for a 645kg Charolais cross heifer from Mountrich, Dingwall.

Bullocks sold to 196.0p and £1234.80 for a 630kg Limousin cross from Bridgend, Dingwall.

Some 1171 prime sheep sold to £135 for Texel ewes from Ravensview, Achterneed.

New season lambs (944) averaged 187.7p and peaked at 213.1p for Beltex crosses from Leanach, Inverness, and £92.50 for Suffolk crosses from Ardjachie, Tain.

Newton Stewart

Craig Wilson had 1761 prime and cast sheep forward for their sale where prime lambs average 183p.

Top price at £95 was realised for a Texel from David Cannon, Barfad and 217.1p for Beltex’s from R Templeton, Carslae.

St Boswells

Heifers were in demand at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly primestock sale of cattle and sheep where prices peaked at 252p for Upper Nisbet.

Bullocks (22) and heifers (57) averaged 197.83p per kg and 200p respectively.

Bullocks topped at 228p for Penston.

Some 2241 lambs averaged 183.7p per kg (-6p on the week) and sold to £106 for Suffolk from Ruecastle Cottages and 227p for Beltex from Wester Ulston.

Ewes levelled at £70 and Texel's took the top call of £130 for Leaston.
